Advice for buying premature baby clothes

Sizing is really important

Where many people complain of high street premature baby clothing being too big, we get 5 star reviews.

Well fitting clothing is important to regulate a babies temperature, which is particularly important for a baby born early. Layering is also advised.

Micro-preemies need specialist clothing

A baby in the NICU or SCBU, especially those in an incubator, will be connected to lines and tubes, and if being dressed should be done so with minimal disturbance.

We offer a lot of clothing with 'easy-dress' features, slits for feeding lines and tubes through, and made of soft and breathable organic cotton; ideal for delicate skin. This includes more choice of incubator vests than anywhere else.

Is organic cotton essential?

Organic cotton is gentle and kinder to a baby's skin. There is less of a chance of baby developing skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and skin allergies. It is mould resistant and antimicrobial too. It's also better for the planet!

Many of our products are organic, but you do pay a premium for premium products, and we do sell a lot of standard cotton clothing with no complaints. It really is down to how sensitive baby's skin is, personal preference, and budget.

Buy clothing for different settings

Ensure you have enough items for different stages of baby's first weeks or months, for varying temperature conditions, and so you can wash items regularly.

It's recommended to dress baby in layers so clothing can be easily changed to adapt to the day.
