However many NICUs will allow NICU-friendly options such as incubator vests, gowns, and side-snap tops which allow for medical access and minimal handling. Accessories like soft hats and stay-on mittens help keep tiny babies warm and protected.
We know how sensitive premature babies’ skin can be. That’s why many of our premature baby clothes are made from organic cotton. Naturally soft and breathable, organic fabrics are kinder to delicate skin and less likely to trigger eczema, dermatitis, or allergies. They’re also mould resistant and antimicrobial, giving parents extra peace of mind.
While all our clothes are designed with comfort and safety in mind, choosing organic means choosing the purest fabrics for your little one. Discover our beautiful range of organic premature baby clothes – practical, protective, and irresistibly cute.
Your purchases help us support premature baby charities
We make premature baby clothing donations to hospitals and individuals, support Tommy's (the baby charity) and source products from ethical suppliers that support charities and communities too.
Little Mouse was founded by a Neonatal Nurse with a genuine desire to help family and friends of premature babies; and the fact we can make a modest living from doing so is a dream come true. As we grow we will do even more charitable work.
Established in 2017 by a NICU Nurse, we're a small business with a big heart.
Our story
I understand the challenges of finding premature baby clothing that's soft, safe, and easy to use for the tiniest babies.
I have also seen too many babies in the NICU with few gifts and cards, as loved-ones didn't know what to do for the best.
That's what inspired me and my family to create Little Mouse. Our mission is to make this part of the journey a little easier with our thoughtful collection of premature, NICU-friendly clothing, and new baby gifts.
Premature baby clothing advice for shoppers
Premature baby clothing advice
Can you help me choose premature baby clothes?
It's really important to buy the right premature baby clothes and gifts. Preemie baby clothes needs to fit well and be practical; especially if baby is in the NICU or SCBU. Founded by a NICU Nurse, we're able to offer you valuable advice on what premature baby clothes to buy and we produced a Premature Baby Clothes Gift Buyer's Guide.
We've also created Preemie Baby Gift Boxes to help make buying a gift of premature baby clothes, toys, blankets and cards as convenient as possible.
What clothes will a premature baby wear?
What premature baby clothes a tiny baby can wear will depend on it's stage of development and it's curent care i.e. is baby in the hospital NICU or SCBU or not. This will determine if a premature baby just wears an incubator vest or premature baby sleepsuit, hat, mitts, tiny baby snowsuit, etc.
Ultimately, it's most important that a premature baby's temperature is regulated and it is comfortable. Dressing with premature baby clothing should cause minimal disturbance, and layering items is recommended when baby is out of the incubator.
Once a preemie baby is able to come home you will probably need tiny baby clothes. Our tiny baby clothing is size 4lb-7lb or 5lb-8lb.
